They aim to freeze relationship status, keeping island nation on State Sponsor of Terror list.
On Monday, Senators Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and Ted Cruz introduced a new bill that, if passed, would prevent the president’s administration from changing Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terror. The island nation was taken off the list of nations sponsoring terror during the Obama administration and then returned to it by the State Department the week before President Biden was sworn into office.
The White House has indicated that it would consider changing the designation back. Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “A Cuba policy shift is not currently among President Biden’s top priorities, but we are committed to making human rights a core pillar of our U.S. policy, and we’re committed to carefully reviewing policy decisions made in the prior administration, including the decision to designate Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to guide the Senate on the best course of action with Cuba.
- That God would help the president’s administration build the most beneficial relationships possible with neighboring nations.
- For Secretary Blinken as he leads the State Department.
